Optical Fiber Diameter Analyzer
The Optical Fiber Diameter Analyzer is a state of the art method to measure diameter of mohair and cashmere fiber and can be used on wool as well. A fiber sample from the microcorer is spread on a microscope slide and put under the microscope portion of the instrument. A video camera is connected to the computer that spots fibers and measures diameter. The computer measures 4000 fibers in 2 minutes and prints out the average fiber diameter and a diameter histogram. This instrument is also capable of determining the cashmere content of raw sheared fiber samples. Click on the microscope for a close-up view.
