Meat Goat Populations by State, 2015 estimates

Total meat goat inventory:  2015 = 2,150,000;   2014 = 2,105,000;   2013 = 2,315,000;   2012 = 2,356,000;   2011 = 2,468,000;   2010 = 2,538,000  

Other States: In 2015, a change was made to the inventory estimates. Several states that in previous years had individual state estimates were placed in the "Other States" category. These states include: Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Total estimated meat goat population in these states equals 179,000 head.
