Dairy Goat Populations by State, 2015 estimates

Total dairy goat inventory:    2015 = 365,000;   2014 = 358,000;   2013 = 360,000;   2012 = 360,000;   2011 = 360,000;   2010 = 355,000  

Other States: In 2015, a change was made to the inventory estimates. Several states that in previous years had individual state estimates were placed in the "Other States" category. These states include: Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Total estimated dairy goat population in these states equals 32,700 head.
