Naiad - Najas sp.

Naiads are completely submerged and can grow to a depth of 20 feet or more depending on water clarity. Leaves are slender and often toothed although magnification may be required to see these structures. Leaves form a sheath around the stem at the point of attachment. Stems are branched. Stems, leaves and seeds are consumed by waterfowl.
